A brand new #20m investment in womens cricket will help the gap closes around Australia, says its manager Clare Connor.
England struggled in the multi-format Womens Ashes series, which Australia won 12-4 on points to keep the trophy of the summer.
The money will fund 40 new fulltime specialist contracts and help expand all areas of the game of the women.
The gap struck us hard that summer in the Ashes, Connor told BBC Sport.
The England and Wales Cricket Board intends to spend #50m to the game more than five years totransform all facets of women and girls cricket.
The new contracts will be in addition to the 21 central contracts which are set up.

Connor described the funds asunprecedented in womens championships.
What weve seen is that the investment Australia created in their approach four or five decades ago is really paying dividends for them across the sport, Connor explained.
We need to be certain the increasing numbers of professional players in national level is actually driving the standards of the England team as well.
This is a long-term perspective around making sure there are more gifted women in the whole system, and that begins from developing the foundation.
The program is going to be concentrated on five areas: pathway, participation, profile, performance and individuals.
